Skyscanner cheap deals

Of all the tools we used for finding bargains in the travel world, Skyscanner was number 1, until the day we found ourselves at the check in desk with non-existent tickets. That update and scam warning is further down the page. Our tips on how to save money still stand and are here for you to use. Skyscanner is a great tool, but beware certain 3rd party ticket vendors. We still prefer Skyscanner to new flight scanner comparison tools, including Kiwi, it also often gives us cheaper prices than going direct to the airlines themselves but that comes with our warning below.

Find Cheap Flights & Plane Tickets with Skyscanner

I am looking to book flights from London to Buenos Aires. I understand Skyscanner is a price comparison site and not a booking site, however I am getting costs with sky scanner that are no where near what the direct airline is giving me. Finding it difficult to understand how Skyscanner can give me a cost for less than half the price. Often the same flight is sold through different airlines with their own airline code.

It is the result of a codeshare agreement. And the price will typically be different. Sometimes dramatically. It can happen that the cheapest fare class for that flight is sold out through one of the airlines, but that there are still seats available in the cheapest for another. I don t think that this is the mechanism you are experiencing - I just put it out there to illustrate how complex ticket pricing can be and how prices can vary a lot.

The flight might be the same, but the conditions could be vastly different. The cheaper fare might be hand baggage only, maybe no chance to choose seats. Use it as a tool to find routes and airlines, and not all airlines are listed, then go direct to the airline to book. Be aware that you could be directed to a dodgy third party agent. Don t click on the links. Find your airline and search for the genuine website.

Yet this forums has literally thousands of complaints from people seduced by what they think it a good deal. It clearly depends what 3rd party one uses. Skyscanner is just a billboard, paid advertising space, under zero obligation to show you the cheapest anything, none. Yeah the fake price, or outdated price vs the real price. Unfortunately reality is often harsher than fantasy. Skyscanner is now basically garbage as it shows prices listed by well-documented sketchy third-party bookers and on top of that outdated pricing What good that is to someone booking today I haven t figured out, but it may be beneficial to know that maybe at some point the routing you re looking at has been less expensive and perhaps will be again.

Lost in that mess is the actual airline links where you find usually the real current price. I still scope it out on occasion to check some things as a couple of their search parameters are handy, but the site today is virtually useless. Money talks, and if you follow the links on that site your money may also walk while you re left sitting I see you re looking at one way fares. It s called throwaway ticketing. If so they re that s not an apples to apples comparison as you could buy that round trip directly from the airline.

In any case, that Norwegian offering is a legit one way fare and hence could be the way to go. You should always use these sites for research only, and then go to an airline website or a proper travel agent to check the fares and conditions. I ve now stopped using Skyscanner because of all the "cheap" prices being shown by all the dodgy 3rd party agents, that you shouldn t book with, despite whatever post 11 says. I don t understand the animosity to Skyscanner.

I find it a very useful tool in pricing flights - and showing where they may be purchased which Matrix doesn t. All results show the complete itinerary and appear to be live bookable prices. The list of vendors on single and return flights often includes the airlines themselves, when it doesn t you can always check with airline sites, prices appear to be similar. But where Skyscanner scores is the pricing of multicity itineraries, which are difficult to cobble together yourself from airline sites.

Note that I use the Swedish site, www. Thank you for your reply JockBossJob, I would love to book Norwegian airlines as the price it amazing however I have tried to book directly with the airline 5 times now and each time, after I have entered my payment I get a message saying please try again later, the money is taken from my account and returned 2 days later. I have also tried to book over the phone however waiting over half an hour on an overseas phone gets quite costly.

I still want to book through Norwegian , however actually booking the flight is proving very difficult , is anyone else have this problem? Flights Vacation Rentals Restaurants Things to do.
