Morrisons is now upping the ante by introducing a whopper of a fish and chips meal deal. Weighing in at grams, which is double the size of the retailer s normal serving, the battered haddock will likely keep you full for a few days. Not only that, but the deal comes with a double portion of chips, peas and a cheeky wedge of lemon. Um, sign me up, please. It s goddamn huge. The meal is also great value for money and hand battered to order. It s recently launched the Big Daddy Breakfast, which features 19, yes, nineteen, items. Served up on a plate so giant we re pretty sure it s theoretically a serving platter, the breakfast includes three rashers of British bacon, three British pork sausages, three hash browns, two fried eggs, two slices of black pudding, two slices of fried bread, two half tomatoes, baked beans and sliced mushrooms. Helen says: Sounds like way less of a bum deal than the full English one tourist received while on holiday in Cyprus , sharing his disappointing experience on Reddit by posting a picture of the slightly baffling plateful.

Email address: Morrisons is doing away with polystyrene packaging on all its own-brand goods, replacing it with cardboard and recyclable plastic trays. Expanded polystyrene is one of the most common plastics. It is widely used as a base to protect pizzas and frozen goods, but is not biodegradable and is frequently found littering coastlines. The material comprises plastic that has been injected with air, making it lightweight. However, as the plastic content is low, polystyrene has little value to recyclers and therefore is typically incinerated or sent to landfill. Morrisons uses the material on its fresh food counters for meat and fish trays and as a base for instore-made pizzas. It has also been used to package some delicate frozen desserts and cakes. Approximately 90 million meat trays, fish trays and pizza bases were used in Morrisons last year, the supermarket said. Now the grocer is introducing cardboard bases for pizzas and frozen goods, while its butchers and fishmongers will use clear recyclable plastic trays made from recycled plastic bottles. It estimates that the move will prevent tonnes of the polystyrene being disposed of every year. Rival Tesco announced earlier this week it had removed the plastic on dozens of varieties of fruit and vegetable multipacks , instead selling the produce as loose items for a trial in two of its stores.
